The 20-minute long discussion took place at the PM’s office in the second floor of the complex.
It was a closed door meeting, although a group of joint opposition MPs had accompanied Rajapaksa to the premier’s office.
The group remained in the office lobby, while the discussion went on.
These MPs are curious about the meeting, which took place just hours before Wickremesinghe was to leave for an official visit to China.
According to parliament sources, Rajapaksa has raised with the PM the investigations against his family members and the withdrawal of Army security for him.
