Sri Lanka linked to Panama Papers scandal? Featured

As scandal of the Panama Papers has rocked the global rich and the powerful, an interactive map on the investigation marks Sri Lanka on it as well.

The map, published by the Irish Times, is titled as 'secret companies around the world'. Details pertaining to Sri Lanka are shown below.

Dubbed the Panama papers, massive cache of 11 million confidential documents shows how a global industry of law firms and big banks sells financial secrecy to politicians, fraudsters and drug traffickers as well as billionaires, celebrities and sports stars.

The leaked data covers nearly 40 years, from 1977 through the end of 2015

The documents have been passed to German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung, which then shared them with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.

BBC reports that 107 media organisations in 78 countries are analysing the documents.
