The suicide kit, grenades and other weapons found there had been used by the LTTE during the war, acting IGP S.M. Wickramasinghe said.
The TID is investigating as to why the suspect in custody had brought the cache to the house.
The military has found suicide jackets similar to this one in 2008.
The cache has been sent to the government analyst, who is due to report back in two days, said police headquarters sources.
