Speaking to 'BBC Sandeshaya', he cited an article published over the upcoming Presidential election as the reason.
The article was published on the Ravaya newspaper on Nov. 30 as its lead news and titled 'Maithri ta 59% Mahinda ta 41% ki Buddhi Lokka Iwathata' (which can be loosely translated as Intelligence chief sacked for saying Maithri gets 59% & Mahinda gets 41% ).
Speaking further, K. W. Janaranjana has said that the article was based on a report compiled by the Intelligence chief over information acquired with regard to the Presidential election.
'True facts'
The news article further cited that the Intelligence chief was removed by the President who was highly displeased by the report.
Upon being inquired whether the Ravaya editor maintained whether the article was entirely true, he has said, "Definitely. From the information we have received, the reliability of the article has not been challenged."
