Kabir to succeed Tissa?

It has been suggested to name Kegalle District UNP MP Kabir Hashim as the next UNP general secretary, sources from the party headquarters Sirikotha say.

The post was left vacant after Tissa Attanayake crossed over to the government today.

At the present, Hashim functions as the Chairman of the UNP.

According to the UNP constitution, the power to appoint the party general secretary, chairman and treasurer lies with the party leader.
