An investigation is underway into police officers who had concealed evidence in the killing of Lasantha on 08 January 2009, misled courts and got a suspect, soldier Kandegedara Piyawansa, released.

One of the accused, former head of the TID ASP Prasanna Alwis was summoned to the CID last week.

However, former Army chief Sarath Fonseka has told the media that investigations into the Lasantha murder were on a wrong line.

Fonseka too, was accused over the killing.
