Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror' he stated that according to the particular circular the estimated annual expenses of a school can be divided by the number of students in the school to determine the amount each student should pay and it can be obtained from the students as the Facilities Fee.
This shows that the current Ministry of Education has no expenses to hold on behalf of the education, Stalin said.
It is disheartening that collecting large amount of money has been thus certified while the government states that they have accepted the request to allocate 6% of the GDP for education he said adding that legalizing the collection of money through circular 5/2015 for all 10022 schools in the island according to their estimated expenses indicates that free education has been put into jeopardy.
He stated that Ceylon Teacher's Union have informed Minister of Education as well as the Secretary to the Ministry of Education on this regard in a letter sent on 01 July,2015.
