He was speaking at the BMICH in Colombo yesterday at the launch of book of poems titled ‘Adara Nil Menika’ penned by senior journalist Lakshman Piyasena.
Commenting on the national anthem being sung in Tamil too, on Independence Day, the president said he had been abused for several weeks via internet for that.
When he was a minister about 1 ½ years ago, he said, he had gone to the north to distribute goods, but that he had not given them anything so far.
Politicians alone cannot heal the wounds and reconcile all Sri Lankans, and artistes and the media have a key role to play in that.
Some may criticize and ridicule the words ‘reconciliation’ and ‘good governance’, but the future of Sri Lanka hinges on those two words, president Maithripala Sirisena said.
