Dhammika threatens journos with death

Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) - Dhammika Ranatunga has made death threats to several court reporters at the Colombo High Court premises today (16).

They have lodged complaints on this regard with the Colombo High Court police post and the Keselwatta police.

Initially he had reprimanded and threatened a journalist of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) for capturing him on video camera and then had done the same to journalists of Hiru, Derana and BBC for video recording his outburst.

Dhammika was at the Colombo High Courts to attend the hearing for the bail application revision for his brother and former CSN Senior Executive - Nishantha Ranatunga, who was remanded on charges of violating the Public Property Act.

The Colombo High Court accepted the bail revision application filed on behalf Ranatunga.

However, Colombo High Court Judge M. C. B. S Morais did not grant Ranatunga bail, but directed the Kaduwela Magistrate to revise the remand orders and consider granting bail after taking into consideration only the Bail Act.
