Over-nutrition among urban schoolchildren Featured

Children of school in urban areas are having over-nutrition, a health ministry survey has found.

Bad food habits, such as instant food, and lack of exercise are the main contributory factors.

The ministry also says 20 per cent of the pregnant women too, are having over-nutrition.

When compared with national levels, malnutrition is high in Nuwara Eliya at 18 pc.

There has been a 10 per cent reduction in stunted growth among children, the ministry adds.
