Gamage is under investigation by the CID for having kept, without a license, a baby elephant, which has since been sent to the Pinnawala elephant orphanage.

In his petition, he says there are no legal grounds for his arrest, to be made as part of the investigation.

Deciding that there was no basis to hear the petition, the SC dismissed it.
