For that, files in the unit’s possession were being taken to a location in Colombo Fort, and missing files came to light upon checks.

Documents relating to frauds and corruption committed by politicians, heads of institutions and other high profile persons have been made to disappear.

Some of the more than 1,000 files were under investigation when the unit went inactive, while the others had been set aside for political reasons.
