This was revealed in a question posed by JVP’s Nalinda Jayatissa to the transport minister in parliament.

Giving the numbers of the 14 buses, he inquired about the names of the depots under which these buses were operating.

Deputy minister Ashok Abeysinghe responded, saying the CEB did not having buses bearing such numbers.

According to reports reaching Sri Lanka Mirror, Kumar Welgama had been the transport minister when these buses were bought.

The FCID too, is investigating a complaint about some buses imported duty free and purportedly for the CEB during that period.

According to parliament agenda paper, the numbers given by Jayatissa are WP NB – 6028, WP NC – 6049, WP NB – 7751, WP NB – 7752, WP NB – 7967, WP NC – 0653, WP NC – 1307, WP NC – 1746 and WP NC – 2016.
