Who masterminded CSN?

Who masterminded CSN?

According to information revealed so far, Yoshitha Rajapaksa has not only been a brand director for CSN television, but also served as its chairman, consultant to anti-corruption front Keerthi Tennakoon told Sri Lanka Mirror.

The channel’s founding CEO had been Nishantha Ranatunga, but he stepped down after he became Sri Lanka Cricket secretary.

Its operations officer, from 2011, was Priyantha Abeyratne, who was general manager (regulatory) of Sri Lanka Telecom from 2009 to 2013.

Thusitha Jayawardena was its manager (operations), but got paid by the state at the same time as development officer at the Presidential Secretariat.

Evidence established

Given below are several pieces of established evidence that Yoshitha had played an active role at CSN:

1. The cabinet paper no. 05/12/2011 referred to Yoshitha by the then permanent secretary to the sports ministry Ganegala.
2. Nihal Nanayakkara of United Electrical Engineering had signed a contract with Yoshitha for installing air-conditioners at CSN.
3. The agreement reached by Richard Soyza with CSN for marketing purposes.

Registration addresses

The CSN has given two addresses for its registration:

1. SEMA building at No. 21, Janadhipathi Mawatha (a state property).
2. No. 260/2, Torrington Avenue, Colombo 07. This is the house occupied by Mahinda Rajapaksa in 2000, and also the registration address for Rajapaksa family’s Siriliya Saviya and other organizations.

Political vengeance?

If matters stand thus, how can the arrest, producing before courts and remanding of Yoshitha and the others be described as political vengeance? asked Tennakoon.

The law should be enforced against persons who had abused public property.

If anyone who should beseech the gods for justice in this matter, it is none other than the Sri Lankan public, he said, adding that these revelations would defeat attempts by politicians to hide the truth.

The enforcement of the law irrespective of position is what we need today, Tennakoon added.
