Colombo Mayor AJM Muzammil could be facing a knock-out blow after the Bar Association of Sri Lanka threatened him with legal action over his failure to remove the government's election posters and cut-outs following an order given by to him by the Elections Commissioner to do so.

According to an official survey done by CaFFE (Campaign for Free and Fair Elections) as many as 2400 illegal posters and cut-outs have strung up in the city of Colombo.

According to CaFFE some 29 complaints of election violations have also been reported as of December 4 evening.

Of the 29 complaints, 12 are violence-related incidents reported from Puttalam, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Kandy, Kalutara and Gampaha districts.
There have also been 14 cases of abuse of state property reported from Hambantota, Colombo, Gampaha, Kegalle and Kurunegala.
