Today's (17) protest demonstration was joined by parents protesting against the transfer of teachers without substitute teachers being assigned to take their place. The event was organised by UNP MP S.M. Marikkar.

They have claimed that there is a dearth of 67 teachers in the Kolonnawa Education Zone. In addition to this, 11 more teachers have been transferred without substitute teachers being assigned to take their place.

Solangaarachchi had arrived at the scene to disperse the protestors, but had left the premises amid hooting of the protestors.
