Bad times for wild animals in P’naruwa

Bad times for wild animals in P’naruwa Featured

There has been an increase in the death of wild animals at wildlife parks in Polonnaruwa, environmentalists say.

They attribute this to speeding vehicles at road located across these wildlife parks and increased activity by hunters.

Elephants as well as small animals like hares get hit by careless motorists on Polonnaruwa-Colombo road that runs across Minneriya and Kavudulla wildlife parks.

In one instance, pictures show the carcass of a jackal run over by a luxury bus.

Environmentalists call for the introduction of speed limits as a solution.
