Constitutional reforms : Low public input

Constitutional reforms : Low public input Featured

The Committee on Public Representations on the Constitution (CPRC), which seeks public input on the new Constitution, has only received just around 2,000 public viewpoints so far, reports say.

The CPRC appointed by Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe to seek public opinion on the proposed constitutional reforms will seek input from people in Jaffna and Kurunegala districts on February 15th and 16th receptively.

Public views can be submitted directly or via fax, telephone, email and Facebook.

The committee is chaired by Attorney-At-law Lal Wijenayake.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the government is concerned over the low levels of public feedback.

Attempts to contact Mr. Wijenayake on this regard were unsuccessful.
