He was speaking yesterday (14) at an event in Matara titled 'Come find the colour of love', organised by the Socialist Youth Association.

He said that in addition to the education and job issues faced by the youth in the country, they also face marriages which is not possible without money.

Although we are talking about the 21st century, the youth of our country are pressurised by this dowry system. Therefore, we urge the government to abolish the dowry system, he added.
