The revelation was made by Maithripala at a press conference with the JHU held today in Colombo.

"Over the past couple of days there has been a massive turn-around in the country. The JHU is a party that is very supportive of the masses which they have shown over the past period. Once elected I will serve the country with responsibility.

I will work in a manner that will uphold the dignity of the security forces establishment. The dignity of security forces personnel will be upheld and I will make sure they are not used for private work as witnessed today at the President's house.I will not create divisions among the forces personnel.

I will make certain there will be no political interference in the functions of the armed forces which is primarily to protect the country and people", said Maithripala Sirisena.
