Mahinda tells Namal to be prepared to go to Welikada Featured

Former president Mahinda Rajapaksa has told his eldest son Namal to get ready to go to Welikada prison this week.

He said so during a meeting of local government members in Negombo yesterday (14).

Rajapaksa said Namal was targeted by questions raised in parliament last week and weekend newspapers carried articles about him with the intention of sending him behind bars.

A weekend newspaper has reported that MP Namal Rajapaksa could get arrested within days over the murder of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen.

Investigators have ascertained that the ex-president’s bodyguard Capt. Tissa Wimalasena was directly involved in the killing.

The newspaper added that there was evidence to prove that Namal has committed serious offences under the money laundering act.
