Speaking at a media briefing today (01), Opposition MP Dinesh Gunawardena said that the decision is a mark of protest against the present suppressive stance of the government.

FCID illegal

He also stated that the Financial Criminal Investigation Division (FCID) is not a legal institution and that a cabinet paper is to be tabled to establish a legal police unit after doing away with the FCID.

Noting that the establishment of the FCID violated the constitution, MP Gunawardena said that former Defence secretary - Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had even filed a Supreme Court case on this regard and the case is being dragged on as it would prove that the FCID is an illegal establishment.

Yoshitha, not connected to CSN

Speaking at the media briefing, Udaya Gammanpila stated that Yoshitha Rajapaksa does not hold any post at the CSN channel.
