Ancient paintings and paintings belonging to the Kandyan era are thus affected from it.
According to museum sources the situation has emerged as the recent renovation activities had not been carried out properly.
It is reported that Rs. 6.5 million has been spent on these renovation activities, which was done in 2009.
A senior speaker at the museum stated that if proper interventions are not made a great destruction could take place.
However, upon inquiry the Director of Colombo National Museum, Sanuja Kasthuriarachchi stated that attention has already been paid to the situation.
