The payment of a Rs. 100,000 cash reward at the birth of the third child for the family of a member of the police has been suspended by gazette notification PRCM 710 issued on January 12.

This cash reward started to be given through the budgets of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Meanwhile, a reduction in the budgetary allocation of funds for development work created trouble for ministers.

As little as Rs. 18 million has been allocated per ministry from this year’s budget.
