JVP’s Nalinda challenged over transgender remark Featured

The centre for the rights of sex workers is challenging JVP MP Nalinda Jayatissa for an open debate over his remark that gay, lesbian and transgender persons are mentally-distorted.

Their sexual favours are perverted and against nature, he has said.

Responding, the centre asked at a media briefing yesterday (07) as to whether that was the opinion of the JVP or of the MP.

It noted that transgender persons have all the rights of normal persons and their aspirations should not be disregarded for political gains.

A transgender person, Sakuni Mayadunne, has this to say.
