The SLBC’s debts have so piled up due to the non-payment of the dues for the past years.

Also, the Bank of Ceylon tried in November to suspend the SLBC’s account due to its having obtained a massive overdraft.

Maintaining the institution has become an issue due to its very big workforce and administrative weaknesses.

On January 01, director general Erananda Hettiarachchi told the staff that the SLBC would have to be closed if they did not contribute properly.

He has openly taken division heads to task, according to reports.

There is information that certain employees sign their attendance and engage in other jobs during office hours.

The most inefficient divisions at the SLBC have been identified as the studio, engineering and finance divisions, reports add.
