The presidential task force on dengue prevention is to be summoned next month in view of an increase in the prevalence of dengue, said the health ministry.

Director general of health services Dr. Palitha Mahipala has discussed this with president Maithripala Sirisena.

The president is expected to give a date for the meeting of the task force.

Tomorrow, Dr. Mahipala will discuss progress of a western province dengue prevention programme that was held from 21 to 23 of this month.

During that programme, 80,650 places in Colombo, Gampaha and Kalutara district were examined.

Warnings have been issued on account of 1,366 places with dengue larva, and 7,566 places where mosquitoes could breed, while 3,084 places were issued with summons and court cases filed against 521 places.
