Activist of ‘Sanvedi Minissu’, or sensitive people, Kumari Kumaragamage says two of them are women.
She says the woman could have been saved, as Saudi Arabia had not enforced the death-by-stoning for for the past nine years.
Kumaragamage says nine others are facing death, while between 300 and 600 others are languishing in Saudi prisons due to an absence of legal support for them.
The government should consider extending legal support for expatriate workers in need, she says.
When contacted, deputy minister Dr. Harsha de Silva said legal assistance would be given to reasonable cases, as it would be impossible to do so for a large number of persons.
Also, would-be expatriate workers will be made aware of the laws of the countries to which they are going, said Dr. de Silva.
