Dhal, dried sprats shortage imminent!

Dhal, dried sprats shortage imminent!

Certain wholesale traders have stopped importing dhal and dried sprats, saying they cannot import the commodities given the ceiling prices imposed by the government.

Good quality dhal and dried sprats cannot be imported even at these maximum prices, they say.

They are reluctant to import the low quality, for which there is a higher demand from consumers.

The maximum per kilo price for dried sprats is Rs. 410 and for dhal it is Rs. 169.

The Consumer Affairs Authority is imposing fines on traders who sell at higher prices.
