The measure is being taken to safeguard the quality of 'Atapirikara', which is being offered to the Maha Sangha.
The registration form will be available at the Department of Buddhist Affairs from next month, the ministry says.
The form is to be handed over to the Sri Lanka Standards Institution and if the standards are satisfactory, the Department of Buddhist Affairs will finalise the registration, which will be valid for a period of three years.
The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) is to conduct raids to nab traders who do not comply with these regulations.
In June 2015 too, the CAA raided shops that sold 'Atapirikara' in a fraudulent manner.
