Minister of Sustainable Development - Gamini Jayawickrama Perera has said it has been decided to provide monetary rewards to those who report of any harm done to wildlife.

Under the initial phase of the programme, a person reporting any harm to a leopard would receive Rs. 25,000 as a reward, the minister adds.

The minister urged public to inform the Wildlife Department of any incidents involving shooting wild animals including wild elephants, setting traps and torturing animals.

He urged to inform such incidents to his number - 0718278344 or to the 24/7 hotline - 1992.

The Public is also welcome to report any financial or administrative fraud taking place in the Wildlife Department, he adds.
