Giving statements to investigators, witnesses to Thajudeen’s car being on fire have said they had seen a person similar to Capt. Tissa.

Also, there had been two defender jeeps nearby at the time and several suspicious-looking persons who had arrived from these vehicles prevented people from going near Thajudeen’s car, warning them the vehicle could explode at any time.

CCTV footage obtained from Kirulapone junction show several vehicles going after Thajudeen’s vehicle, and the ruggerite trying to avoid them.

However, the assailants had blocked him, preventing him from escaping, the footage show, say the sources.

It is believed Capt. Tissa had come from one of those vehicles.
