Therefore, vehicle dealers or consumers needn't be confused, he added.
He was speaking during a discussion with the Sri Lanka Vehicle Importers Association today (12). This was the first meeting between the minister and the association since Budget 2016 was presented.
The minister said that a state of confusion had been created based on assumptions that the budget proposals would be amended. However, there is no truth in this, he added.
Long term plan :
Noting that a long term plan is needed to salvage the country from the economic collapse, the minister said that therefore, no changes would be made with regard to budget proposals on motor vehicle imports.
He also urged the vehicle importers to engage in transactions not after thinking of future prices but focusing on present prices instead.
