Taking up a writ petition filed by the Center for Environmental Justice (CEJ) - Appeal court judge - Vijith K. Malalgoda yesterday (11) ordered to inform the progress in a month's time.
Deputy Solicitor General Arjuna Obeysekara presented the EIA report before the court and said that they had started to seek public opinion since the beginning of December 2015.
Appearing on behalf of the CEJ, Attorney-At-Law Ravindranath Dabare said that the government had extended the pact with the Chinese government for the project.
However, speaking to Foreign media recently, Finance minister Ravi Karunanayake has said that the Sri Lankan government has given all the necessary clearances to resume the controversial Colombo Port City project.
Speaking to South China Morning Post, the minister has said, "We have given all the necessary clearances. Now it is up to the investors to sort out the minor details."
"On our part, the government is happy with the environmental impact assessment [EIA] report for the project. It is now under public consultation," he has added.
