It is disheartening that another Sri Lankan woman was sentenced to death within a period of 2 years following the murder of Rizana Nafeek, which took place in 09 January 2013.

He further alleged that the government did not receive expected support from the Saudi authorities or diplomats attached to Sri Lankan Embassy in Saudi Arabia in order to save the particular woman.

However, Sri Lankan ambassador to Saudi Arabia Azmi Thassim speaking to BBC had stated that the legal proceedings to the matter are yet underway.

He had further stated that embassy officials have been provided with an opportunity to meet her.
