After the new government came to power, Avant Garde was permitted by defence secretary Karunasena Hettiarachchi to run its floating armoury for another five years.
The relevant agreement was signed on 20 October 2015.
The defence secretary has sought the opinion of the attorney general regarding the legality of the government decision to cancel the agreement between the state-owned Rakna Lanka and Avant Garde company.
