Student abductions : Vehicle found from Trinco Navy camp Featured

A vehicle allegedly linked to the abduction of several students during the days of the last regime, has been seized by the CID from the Trincomalee Navy Camp, reports say.

Some time back, six students who had attended a party of another international school student had been abducted while returning in the vehicle. The abducted students were later found to be murdered and a complaint was lodged on this regard with the Wattala police.

It is said that the CID had attempted to seize the vehicle for a number of days but were obstructed by authorities at the Navy camp.

The vehicle was seized from the camp after explaining that it was linked to a crime.

However, it is learnt that the vehicle had borne a Navy number plate for years.

Navy Intelligence

The CID has probed into the abduction and killing of 28 children of wealthy families in Colombo and Trincomalee. Investigations have revealed that the above mentioned six students were abducted for extortion and the crime was committed by several Navy personnel of the Navy Intelligence Unit, reports say.

Accordingly, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage - the then Commander Eastern Naval Area, is to be quizzed on this regard, reports add.
