Avant Garde agreement invalidated: Navy takes over Featured

The government has decided to immediately invalidate the agreement between the state-owned Rakna Lanka and Avant Garde company that was to continue until 2019.

Accordingly, all firearms in Avant Garde’s custody will be taken over by the Navy.

Cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne said president Maithripala Sirisena has handed over all business activities of Avant Garde to the Navy.

A special cabinet meeting took place today to discuss this issue.

Before Avant Garde started running floating armoury, the Navy has had its firearms stored.
