Common candidate, Maithri Featured

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Maithripala Sirisena today (21) announced that he would contest as the common candidate in the forthcoming Presidential election.

He was speaking at a media conference currently being held at the  New Town Hall today (21).

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, Ministers Dumindha Dissanayake, Rajitha Senarathna, Deputy Minister N.K.A.D.S. Gunawardana, MPs Rajiva Wijesinghe and Arjuna Ranatunga are also participating in the media briefing.

Expressing his gratitude towards appointing him as the common candidate, Maithripala Sirisena stated that 18th amendment was a major blow to the democracy of the country and that executive presidency will be abolished within 100 days.

He also emphasised that he would appoint Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Prime Minister.
