Sources from Milan say that the diplomat - Ms. Pradeepa Seram was sent to Milan with the intention of setting up an embassy office to ease the embassy-related activities of around 25,000 Sri Lankans in and around the area.
The embassy was to be started six months back and it is said that the prevailing situation has occurred due to the inefficiency of Koshitha Perera, who functioned as the acting ambassador in Italy.
In the absence of an office to commence her duties, Ms. Seram is said to staying at her place of accommodation, together with her two children.
However, reports say that a building for an office can be sought soon as it is advertised.
