Lifeguards continue to save lives in SL Featured

Local lifeguards have managed to save 500 lives from 2009, reports say.

The figure includes 155 foreigners and 345 locals.

Life saving units in Sri Lanka began from Mirissa in 2009. At the present, the collective of lifeguards has increased to 158.

Life saving units have been set up in Galle Face, Wellawatta, Dehiwala, Mt. Lavinia, Panadura, Aluthgama, Bentota, Beruwala, Hikkaduwa, Balapitiya, Mirissa, Polhena, Nilaweli, Panama and Gopalapuram.
