Bail was sought for 17 such prisoners by their lawyers today (28),
The TID said investigations have been completed and the reports sent to the AG, who is yet to instruct them on the next course of action.
The acting magistrate said he could release the prisoners only if the AG advises to do so.
Lawyers for the suspects said the government has taken a political decision to release Tamil political prisoners, BBC Sandeshaya reports.
The court further remanded the suspects until November 11, and ordered the TID to inform the court about the AG’s decision.
