The first protest will take place at Viharamaha Devi outdoor theatre this afternoon.

 

The joint opposition decided to raise public awareness against the Geneva proposals that compromise the country’s sovereignty, said Pivithuru Hela Urumaya secretary Udaya Gammanpila.

 

Dinesh Gunawardena, Wimal Weerawansa, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Tissa Vitarana, Dew Gunasekara and Dullas Alahapperuma will participate.

 

Meanwhile, UPFA minister Mahinda Samarasinghe says certain politicians were trying to use the Geneva proposals to draw public attention to themselves.

 

He told the media yesterday in Kandy after calling on the Mahanayake Thera of the Asgiriya chapter that they were making false allegations without making a proper study of the proposals.
