The footage is needed for the investigation into the alleged conspiracy on the night of the presidential election.

Foreign affairs minister Mangala Samaraweera has complained to the police headquarters that Mahinda and Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had conspired together with some others, to remain in power.

The AG’s department has instructed the CID to use modern technology to retrieve the deleted footage, deputy solicitor general Sobhitha Rajakaruna has told ‘Ravaya’.

When contacted, police spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said the file of the completed investigation has been sent to the AG’s department.
