We reported yesterday that the 150th anniversary celebration of the Colombo Municipal Council this year had been put off in view of the termination of its official term on October 31.
Mayor A.J.M. Muzammil, hoping to hold a big celebration with the participation of foreign diplomats, had requested the president and the prime minister for an extension of the term until end-December.
The terms of 312 LG bodies have already terminated and are being run by their respective secretaries.
