The CID has been permitted by courts to inspect the place said to have been used to detain journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda following his abduction.

Homagama magistrate R.B. Nelumdeniya also gave permission to photograph the Giritale camp of the Army’s MIC and check its documents.

The magistrate ordered the Army commander to provide necessary facilities to the investigating CID officers and to deploy military police personnel for their protection.

SIM reactivated after 5 yrs.

Most details of the suspects were revealed after the mobile phone SIM of one of them was reactivated five years after Ekneligoda’s abduction.

Based on these findings, the CID first arrested two former LTTE members linked to the Army intelligence and then a retired Sergeant Major from Kurunegala.

Acting on information given by them, CID also arrested several Army intelligence officers, including two lieutenant colonels, who are being detained for interrogation.
