AG shirks from prosecuting judge

AG shirks from prosecuting judge Featured

The Attorney General’s Department is shirking its responsibility of taking court action against a Supreme Court judge faced with several charges, say police headquarters sources.

The CID handed over a detailed report six week ago to the AG’s Dept. following an investigation.

The judge stands accused of sexually harassing, criminally coercing, confining and causing injury to a servant girl.

The government had not responded to media reports last weekend that a no-confidence motion was to be moved against him if he did not resign.

Government spokesman Rajitha Senaratne has told BBC Sandeshaya that the only way only way out was to move a no-confidence motion if the judge in question did not resign.
