The 'Sath Handa' newspaper reports that the FCID has learnt that 6 companies owned by Namal Rajapaksa are involved in this racket.
According to the newspaper, the companies are Gowers Corporate Services, Gowers Solutions, Gowers Secretariat, N R Consultants, HelloCorp and Gowers Ceylon Holdings.
The 'Sath Handa' further reports as follows :
The probe was initiated on doubts raised on how Mr. Rajapaksa was able to make transactions amounting to millions of rupees despite receiving only a monthly income allotted to a parliamentarian. The probe has revealed a money laundering racket.
In 2012, Gowers Corporate Services had spent Rs. 125 million to acquire Hellocorp.
After being inquired from the police, Mr. Rajapaksa has said that he had sold off his company - N R Consultants to a Bangladesh businessman for Rs. 50 million rupees and this amount too was used in the acquisition of HelloCorp.
However, it is yet to be revealed how this foreign businessman had brought this money into Sri Lanka.
Meanwhile, it is learnt that the income of Gowers Corporate Services had been Rs. 81 million during the period of 2013- 2014.
However, the company only had 100 shares worth Rs. 10 each at its inception.
Accordingly, Mr. Rajapaksa had failed to show how these 06 companies received funds and how they made their income.
