No motorcycles, no money for graduates Featured

Graduate employees attached to state and provincial state services are yet to receive the motorcycles promised to them despite having made the initial payments to the treasury and sending several reminders to authorities, reports say.

Around 10,000 graduates had made the payments before December 30 last year, employed graduates association secretary Chandana Suriyarachchi told Sri Lanka Mirror.

Most of them are in difficulties are they had paid the first installment of Rs. 45,000 or Rs. 50,000 with money they had obtained as bank loans.

They are being charged the repayment installments and due interest since October or November from their salaries.

Suriyarachchi said that highlighting this matter, they had sent a letter to president Maithripala Sirisena, with copies to finance minister Ravi Karunanayake, finance secretary Dr. H.S. Samaratunga and director general of the budget department.
