The country’s debts, which had stood for around 1,950,000 million for over half a decade had been increased by the former regime to Rs. 9,000,000, he says.
The total workforce of the country is 8.4 million, with seven million of them serving in the private sector, says the MP.
Rs. 800,000 million is needed per year to pay salaries of the 1.4 million public servants.
An additional Rs. 2,060,000 million is needed to run country without doing any development work, says Abeysinghe.
Furthermore, there is a difference between the projected and earned revenue, he says, noting that of the 1,400,000 million projected income in 2014, only 1,130,000 million was the actually earned income.
